Blue Tits

We have gained about five Blue Tits - this year's young I believe, but where have their parents gone? Same with the great Tits, their parents have dissappeared.

We love watching the Blue Tit's acrobatics. Collecting aphids from the standard rose or hammering away at half grown apples - they fall a couple of days later, with holes in them, and muggins is lumbered with picking them up. Anyone seen a wasp this year? Bees have been few, butterflies fewer but the absence of wasps is surprising.

Anyway, here, the Blue Tit examined a small feeder which was empty - so he checked underneath, presumably to find out where the food had gone...

Very gloomy this week. I thought my camera was stuck on ISO 3200! I read an article in one of the photographic mags which stuck in my memory, titled 'Noise, the new grain'.. I can do that...

wow! fantastic photos... how do you get so close?!?

I understand many people zoom in lots, but when I do that it just becomes really really blurry.

Patience? Skill? Stickability and an expensive lens?

Nah! In truth they actually got close to me :-)

Maybe I'll have to get out earlier with my camera and sit right next to the bird feeders/birdbath!!

I know it's a little early, and it may seem mad, but I can't wait for autumn/winter!
I miss the robins and lovely winter visitors hanging off the suet balls!

last year, although I liked watching them, I knew nothing about birds and didn't have a clue with identifying! maybe this year I'll spot some redwings, fieldfares, maybe even bullfinches and waxwings! :-)

We have had wasps. Not loads, but enough not to be concerned. I also managed to encourage some more bumblebees into the garden when I bought this lovely dahlia.

Photos are of a bumblebee on the dahlia, then on a Sea Holly (variety Baby Blue), then a hovver fly, then bumblebee plus hovver-fly - but not necessarily in that order! Sorry, no pics of wasps.
