Hi, I couldnt believe when I saw where a thrush was building her nest, sorry about the poor quality of pics, she is now sitting on her eggs as she seems not to leave the nest at all. It doesnt look very secure to me but she seems happy enough. It is also very close to my house, I thought they were more secretive than that, cant wait to see some feeding activity :-)

This is a very interesting situation, Dove - I can't wait to see how things turn out. Thrushes - like robins, wrens and blackbirds - wouldn't go for a nestbox with an entrance hole, but one with an open front. You are lucky to have a thrush in your garden - I haven't seen any in ours for many, many years, only in the local parks.

wow what a scenario,
As jandy said, you are lucky to have the thrush, I have one that briefly visits. Is there any nesting going on in the box, I'm sure there isn't but if there was that really would be something.! please keep us updated, its very interesting. |

Thanks guys, yes there are sparrows in the nest box, they have just fledged. so it is very active around that tree! sometimes a crow will land on the tree and is quickly chased away by both mammy & daddy thrush. There are now lots of babies in the nest, so they very busy feeding, its wonderful. took few pics when got the chance, its hard to make out how many. will take more as they grow

I've Just purchased my first nesting box, I know I'm probably to late for this year and thank you for the tip Jandy, I've now Just removed the front in the hope when the robin comes back it will use the nesting box (maybe next year) |
