[COLOR="Blue"]These are not garden birds but as they fly over my garden at least once a week and because they're very special, thought you'd like to know (if you followed Springwatch last year with Skye and Frisa (parents to Itchy and Scratchy) that Skye and Frisa's this year's chicks (now called Haggis and Oatie (short for oatcake for those not familiar with the expression) and with yellow tags are looking very fit. Lots of sibling rivalry over food - and could be fledging in next two weeks. The chicks are nearly adult size - that means at 2.4m wingspan - measure the walls of a room in your house to experience the size.

Yes, I'm getting to be a bore on these birds. Why not, as I and loads of others spend weeks in inclement weather and antisocial hours protecting them? Sorry.[COLOR]

I like to read about your wonderful birds, Jenny. I like reading about everyones wonderful different birds (and other wild life)! Have been watching the buzzards lately. I like watching them "play" high in the sky!
Love Kerry

Hi, Kerry, good to have you back - been on holiday or has he-man been hogging the computer?!!!

Almost all our WTSE chicks now fledged; the fun and games of keeping track of them soon begins!

Not been out much of late but it's hit that time of year when our garden birds are getting a lot of natural food and the birds of prey are up more on open ground, so long distance views are what we get - except for the blackbirds on the windowsill. On the other hand, with this weather, getting good views of dolphins and porpoises from the house and when went to collect son and mates (they missed the only bus last Saturday) - three basking sharks on west side of island!

The next excitement will be the departure of the Manx Shearwaters - we usually have a chaotic few days with young shearwaters getting a bit confused and Tobermory Main Street has a new invasion!

This thread is a one person show, but anyone who's been keeping up with Mull's WTSE's might like to know that, as far as we can trace, all's well with this year's chicks. So far!
