Having reached that age when memories of youthful activities sometimes slip the mind, could someone remind me just how long to tadpoles take to be come frogs, please?

Jenny,

I came across this, hope its accuarate.
After about five weeks (from eating its way out of the jelly) the hind legs start to grow out of the tadpole.
After about ten weeks the front legs start to develop. This all depends on the temperature, food availability, competition etc.
Over the next three years the frog will grow to become an adult (if lucky) and will be ready to mate in their third year.

There is also this page http://www.ipcc.ie/lifecycle.html but it has different timings.

I don't know but I just wanted to say that I got eggs which hatched successfully and are now froglets. I and a borrowed child returned them to their home at the weekend,it was fantastic. The experience does not diminish with time nor repetition.

Have to report sad occurence - all tadpoles and froglets lost due to dog invasion. Pond wrecked and water quality non-existent. Offspring and friends having to walk very quietly around me right now!
