I am new to watching garden birds, and have been surprised by what comes by. Before I start - I would like to paint the picture of "my back garden and its situations"

Its is a small garden with a single pear tree. Behind our "hedge" is a wildish area - which was not so long along a small wood in the rear garden of a bungalow. The owners of the bungalow is trying to get planning permission to build a small estate on the plot - so far no luck but eventually he will get it, although the number of properties may have to be reduced.

Unfortunately I can't really complain about the over development in the village of Four Marks In hampshire which has been going on over the last 5+ years and is still ongoing. My own property is one of seven been built on a single plot. The village has the A31 runing straight through the middle, with over 1600 houses, (and should pass 1800 within 2 years). Until the 1930's this was all farm land and orchards..... there was no village as it is now.

Before Christmas we put up a bird feeder on our new shed. Soon we had to put a "Tray" over it - to stop the squirrels raiding it!

We have huge numbers of Bullfinches, Robins, Blue tits, and a awful lot more we can't identify. Lots of Black birds, Magpies, Thrushes, Doves, Pigeons and the odd Greater Spotted Woodpeckers.
