hello all,
hmm... having had my oak birdtable for about a month now, i'm coming to that point where i need to start cleaning it. without getting too graphic, am i correct in thinking that all i need to do i just wait for a sunny day to dry out the bird mess, then scrap it off and wash the table with a mild detergent ? would just scrapping off the mess be enough, or do i need to actually wash it ?

I wash mine with hot water and/or garden disinfectant and scrub it with a scrubbing brush.

Thanks for the reminder. Must get out there and do it!

I've seen the ground feeders with a metal base with holes in - does anyone know of a supplier of Bird tables that uses this type of material? - strikes me its a lot easier to clean.

The CJ's one has a mesh base that is not only easy to clean but stops food becoming waterlogged in wet weather.
