We Have Installed A Little Camera In Our Mini-greenhouse, Aimed At The Overturned Plant Pot, Cleared Out After Last Years Nesting By Our Resident Robin And His Wife.
This Year I've Used Some Of The Pretend Moss Used For Planters And Wrapped It Round The Pot, So It Looks Really Cosy.
Already We Have Watched From The Comfort Of Our Living Room, On The Tv, Mrs Robin Going In And Re-arranging Some Leaves In There, On Saturday And Sunday Morning .
I Know It Is Very Early To Be Getting Excited That They May Nest In There Again, But It Does Look Hopeful.

Mr Robin Is Coming Every Day, Umpteen Times, For His Mealworms, And Mrs Robin Has Been Coming To The Dish On The Table On The Patio Too.:)

I Can See That If They Do Decide To Nest There Again That We Will Be Foregoing Any Regular Tv Viewing Just So We Can Watch The Robins.

It Is Exciting And I'll Report Again On Further Developments.

There have been developments since my first e-mail - Mrs Robin has visited the greenhouse a few times to our knowledge and then exciting news this morning.
When I got back from walking the dogs I switched on the TV to see what activity might be taking place in the pot nest, and there were quite a few more leaves in there!
As I am lucky enough to work from home, I'm able to keep checking to see what might be happening and I've been watching Mrs Robin bringing leaves into the pot nest and then doing what looks like a little war dance on them to flatten them.:) She spreads her wings and crouches down and then does this little dance from one foot to the other. It's quite extraordinary watching it.

Mr Robin has been coming still for his mealworms and then flies off with one or two to take to his little wife.

I've attempted to record some of the activity and once my husband gets home and checks it has worked I'll be happy.
How do I get it onto here I wonder:confused:
Perhaps some kind soul can let me know:confused:

The nest is coming on a treat now. Mrs Robin has been in and out over the last 11 days and today she has been lining the nest with moss. It looks like she could be ready to start laying very soon, as long as the weather doesn't get too cold.

We have been recording her activities each day and my husband is editing and putting it onto a DVD.

Everything has happened so much earlier this year than last.:)

Mrs Robin laid her first egg this morning at 7:40am and we witnessed it and recorded it.
She didn't go into the nest at all yesterday and was doing the finishing touches to the nest the day before that.
But this morning she was in and out a few times and then settled down to lay. It was quite incredible being able to watch it all via the camera installed in the mini-greenhouse.
She was moving up and down with her back to us, as if she was having contractions and this went on for a few minutes then she did one last rise up and settled down again to then turn around and face us as she rested up for half an hour, before leaving the nest.
I made sure the caged mealworm feeder had plenty in and she has been in and out of it feeding furiously.

How exciting it is!!:D

Is the caged mealworm feeder something you bought, if so can you tell me where you bought it from?

Thanks in advance,

I got it from Garden Bird Supplies (www.gardenbird.com (http://www.gardenbird.com)).
It costs £18-45 and is described as a caged worm feeder (Product Code CC04).

It is definitely worth investing in one as it keeps the Starlings away from the mealworms.

Scrumpy :)
