I know this 3 months late (because i've been travelling alot recently and haven't had time to use the forums), but during early march i had a Kingfisher visit my garden pond!!!
It was absolutely amazing. I never thought i'd ever see one in my life, let alone one 2ft from my bedroom window. Whats even more amazing is that i live out in the heart of farming country, aka norfolk, and there are no rivers for miles around. Theres not even little streams, its just miles upon miles of flat, open, treeless farmland and ditches. So quite how it ended up in my garden is anyones guess.
It stayed around for 5 or 6 days or so and it never seem to leave the garden. It was always there, purching on the washing line overlooking the pond when i woke up, and it was still there when i went to bed.
It was fascinating watching it diving under the water and coming out with baby goldfish, tadpoles, and all sorts of other water creatures.
Sadly i havn't seen it since. Lets hope it deciedes to come back next year to pick of the new goldfish hatchlings
