I've used an empty laundry conditioner plastic bottle to try and stop the Starlings (mainly) from plundering the dried mealworms and kibbled peanuts that are intended for the Tits.
A small round hole was cut about half an inch up from the bottom.
A hole in the filler cap was made. String was passed through and a stopper knot tied.
Dried mealworms and kibbled peanuts were added through the filler hole and the cap screwed on.
It was then tied to the feeder array.Have fun!

I saw a similar feeder out of a 1Litre milk bottle; never mind which kind of bottle, as long as it benefits the birds and sets your creativity going!

Brilliant idea, Peter and your feeder stand looks good too. However with the Atlantic storms here, blowing in at the SW coast of Ireland, we need something very very sturdy to keep it vertical, instead of lying down on the ground.

It is a pity that CJ WildBirdfoods doesn't have any poles with "arms" so to speak to hold feeders on.

Hi Yoke,
I thought they did, well after a fashion, they have the 'Candelabra' or is that not what you mean?

nice picture, jme.

I've indeed found out that they do have these stands.

I'm not sure if it is the one for me though, I'm still uncertain.

Have seen some real nice ones elsewhere. In Sterling

But without credit cards those are harder to pay for which makes it more expensive, whereas CJ has an .ie (Irish) site too.

so, we still have to see.
thanks for posting the piccie for me, jme.

I'm sure there must be nicer ones, good luck in finding what you want.

Hi Yoke,

Just to put you out of your misery.:)

jme, the letters are my initials, and the

263 is the highest score I achieved in a ten pin bowling league match,

put the two together and they form the first part of my email address, before I added the numbers to my email addy I was receiving an inordinate amount of spam, the addition of the numbers stopped most of it from getting through, touch wood.:D

How about this contraption to stop squirrels getting at the bird seed? :) It was comical to see the efforts they made to get at it. It made it difficult for them but needless to say they managed it eventually:(
