Now I know that my collie cross is a bit daft :) , but to watch him turn tail and shoot straight back into the house being divebombed by two song thrushes was embarrassing - he's supposed to be a brave dog! He had inadvertently chosen to investigate a spot rather too close to four fledglings and boy did those parents attack! They even went for me and one of them was a close to my head as an arctic tern gets when mad, so I also turned coward and ran! Spent the next hour is a state of agony, hoping our neighbour's ginger tom - a nice cat but very fond of birds - wouldn't come round and the parents got the fledglings back to a safe position. The dog is now very wary about that particular patch of the garden!

Hi Jenny
That report certainly made me laugh - I hope nobody caught you both on film to save some embarrassment! It's surprising how brave these birds can get - and then the smaller ones get in on the act. One of our pairs of blackbirds have had a stressful time with the magpies and later a rook, and then all the blackbirds join forces (I counted 6 chattering madly) along with some sparrows and blue tits. The larger birds don't hang around long! Luckily they don't mind me.:)

Kerry, knowing my luck it will be in full technicolour and the film rights already granted :o ! Certainly a neighbour (not at home at the time) knew about it! But you're right - small birds are so brave - gang of blue tits saw off a hoodie today.
