Hi, I was thrilled to bits last week when I managed to capture a photo of the blackbirds that have nested in my neighbours brambles. I couldn't see to focus and had a full 300mm zoom on but was chuffed to bits to get the photo. I was sat on the patio waiting for mum or dad to turn up and perch on the fence long enough for me to get a photo (they are tolerant of me since I put loads of food out for them). I waited for ages and got bored so thought I would try and get a photo of the nestlings peeping out of the nest. To my suprise mum turned up, not at all bothered by me and fed all 4 of the youngsters :). Unfortunately for me I couldn't see properly what I was actually photographing but kept clicking anyway. Then dad turned up too!! Mum sort of sat on the babes for a minute or 2 & then they were off. The next day the nest was empty but there has been bedlam in the garden between cats, magpies and crows. I know it sounds daft but I worried all day in work, not that I can do anything. 2 days ago though I was fiddling about in the garden and mum flew out of the shrub I was near, with worms in her mouth and feigned a bad leg. So I looked above my head and there was 1 of the babies, very well hidden and keeping very still. I was thrilled, I think it's still doing well as I can hear the blackbirds clucking as we speak. 1 other thing which I have never seen or heard about before, I was peaking at the nest & mum turned up and started lying on her breast and scrabbling with her feet, she did this all round the nest, I can only surmise that she is tidying it up for the next brood? Ooops sorry for going on for so long, but I found it all very exciting, expecially since the magpies or cats usually get them all.
