I was at Brands Hatch a couple of weeks ago in the new spectator area on the inside of the hairpin. It's a lovely place, with plenty of big trees and lots of grass. I was distracted, as bird people are prone to be, by the frequent visits of a great tit to the ground behind a tree. When I went round to see what he was up to, he was popping in and out of a hole at the base of the tree with food! I would have thought that given the prevalence of ground predators like rats, he would have gone for somewhere higher up and better protected! It seemed to be working for him though, and I made sure none of the other spectators got too close. I would love to be there when the young fledge to see a stream of youngsters popping out of the tree!

What a lovely photo:)

You are right, if you're interested in wildlife and nature you tend to always be on the lookout for things that other people don't notice.

Well spotted.
