I am, at the moment, trying to get a balance between the two foxes that come into the garden, and it is proving challenging! The fox I normally get is, I'm pretty certain, the dominant dog fox of the area, and the other is a smaller vixen. He normally comes into the garden anyway, she is just beginning to get braver and come into the garden while I'm watching out of the open window - she knows I'm there.
But.... since a couple of nights ago, when I posted an another thread about this, last night the dog fox was around during daylight hours, about 8.30pm, so I was wondering if he is being crafty and getting there before she does, so he gets all the food. I read something similar about foxes doing this, and wondered if this is so. Lovely to see him in the daylight - but unusual. He has been around at midday before, but this has been on one or two occasions over the past 2 years!
I am going to have to try and outwit him, so the other fox gets a share, my last attempt was to give him half of the food, then wait until he'd gone, and gave it half an hour or so, then put the rest out. to which he appeared within a minute and gobbled that up too. Back to the drawing board!:D
He obviously had the hump with her a couple of nights back then when she was 'helping' him eat his food - so he's decided he'll get there as early as possible!! Cheeky whotsit;)
