Thanks for replies to previous post. Computer problems prevented me acknowledging until now - hopefully everything OK again.

The nest building is completed and the hen bird is now brooding at least four eggs. I will have to reposition the camera for next year so as to obtain a better view of the nesting cup - to reposition now would probably be an unacceptable disturbance to the bird.

Attached some pics taken today showing the male bird bringing some food to his mate. The hen bird does leave the nest for short periods presumably to do some foraging herself. Also is a pic showing the eggs.

Regards,
Brendan

Excellent pictures.

Next year I'm going to build a large box with two cameras in. One at the top and one at the side. We already have a nest box with a camera, but typically the nesting birds are in another box! The one with the camera does have a roosting bluey though, which is fun to watch.

Latest! At least five eggs.

Some recent pics:
Two show male bird in nest with a morsel for his mate but the hen bird is absent - presumably foraging on her own account.
The blob high in the corner of the nest box is a snail which entered the box on Wednesday night.

Brendan

As pics are becoming repetitive I will not post any more until hatching occurs - unless something unusual or interesting happens.

In the meantime here are a few pics of the nest box when taken down for cleaning late last summer. Last year four eggs were laid, three hatched. one chick died, and the remaining two chicks successfully fledged.

The marks on front of the nest box were caused by ivy which had enveloped the box and rendered it invisible but very safe for the birds.

Regards,
Brendan.
