I put up a small peanut feeder about two weeks ago and it soon attracted large numbers of blue and great tits. Then abruptly, about two days ago, the visits ceased - completely! I haven't seen a bird near the feeder for about 48 hours. Is it possible that the tits have moved on? Or is it possible that they no longer need to supplement their natural diet with peanuts?
I should add that I recently added a Guardian to the feeder (to deter squirrels). I don't think this is the problem but I can't be certain. The birds were initially reluctant to use it but after a few hours they adjusted and by the end of the first day they were hopping in and out of it like it had always been there.
Has anybody else experienced anything like this?
