I love robins. I particularly like the second shot on the windmill. :)

This is our dad robin gathering food for his baby, who left the nest last Tuesday evening. The nest is in our mini greenhouse which is just outside the kitchen window.:)

Also a pic of mum robin on the nest.:)

Lovely pics. Robins are great for getting 'up close' as they'll happily accept your help in feeding their kids.

Robins are one of my favorites. I have enjoyed looking at all the photos here! Unfortunately I have never been able to photo any of them as they just make a fleeting visit to our garden on the odd occasion. What's the best food to put out to encourage them to come and visit?

I've put out CJ Original Bird table food on my bird table & CJ Original Bird feeder food in 2 of my feeders. They seem to like the feeder food best. In fact I've never seen so many robins in my garden since I switched to the CJ range. I've just checked & they do a Gourmet Robin Mix that should be worth a try.

Hope that helps

Thanks for that Sally. I was just reading on another thread that they liked mealworms also. So I will probably have a go with both :)

Our robins are not at all interested in dried mealworms. They love the live ones and also sunflower hearts are a favourite.

Mr robin knows where I keep the mealworms outside in a covered box and as soon as I open the back door he comes down into the shrub nearest the door and sings to me!

If I'm a bit late in the morning getting them out he will get quite agitated and makes a clicking noise while flicking his tail excitedly, and then when I get them out of their container he will land on the spoon handle while I'm trying to sift them out of the bran!!!!:)

So if I buy some live mealworms to entice a robin or two into my garden and no robin shows up, what happens to the mealworms? Will other birds eat them or wil I be getting a visit from the pest controll. :)

Depending on your bird populations, you might hear a "SQURP", and there'll be loads of starlings eating them.

Failing that, blackbirds + thrushes will have 'em. Dunnocks might too.

I found I was spending a fortune on mealworms because the starlings were forever getting at them, when fed from a normal mealworm feeder. I almost had to keep guard to make sure my robins got them!
But then I bought a caged mealworm feeder from gardenbirdsupplies.co.uk and now the robins can eat in peace and the starlings are frustrated because they cannot reach them.Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just been out in the garden pottering around, and notice I was being followed by Mr Robin. Wherever I went, there he was, hovering like a humming bird in front of me!:)

Couldn't think why he was so interested in what I was doing, when he should be feeding his babies:confused:

I went to check the mealworm feeder to find it was empty, so I got some out to fill it up and my husband took these photos:D

Hope you like them:)

Lovely pics, Sally. A robin usually parks itself on the porch roof below my window, but by the time I get the camera, he's long gone across into the hedge! Usually on the scrounge, as I'm always throwing bits out... :)

Love Scrumpy's pics too!

I took this pic of Mr and Mrs Robin early this morning, when they were bringing in food for the babies.
It was taken through the kitchen window so not crystal clear I'm afraid.:(
