Welcome to the CJ forum photo gallery!

Share your favourite wildlife photos in our new photo gallery. Advice on how to submit a photo is given below. Just one legality, please only submit wildlife/nature photographs that you have taken yourself.

How to submit photos:

Cj forum members can easily add photos to a post by clicking on the 'manage attachments' button below where you type a message (though not the 'quick reply' message box).

A small window should pop up.

You can then browse to the photo on your computer and after selecting the image by double clicking on the photo file on your pc, click 'upload'. You will see when the image has uploaded, and you can add a total of 5 by repeating the process.

Close the window when finished and proceed with your post in the usual manner.

You will need to make sure each image is standard .jpg format as well as below 300kb in file size and no more than 1024 pixels wide and no more than 800pixels high.

Happy snapping!

I'm having great trouble uploading my latest lot of photos (see "Recent Garden Action") - the titles upload but not the pictures. I managed to upload a photo some while back (the first time ever) but I can't remember what I did. I'm not sure which the "manage attachments" button is, or where. Does it make any difference that I have a Mac rather than a PC?

Hi Jandy,

If you scroll to the bottom of the page you'll see the 'Quick Reply' box, if you look beneath that you'll see 'Go Advanced', click on that and you'll open a different reply panel, type your message, then, if you look along the top of the box you'll see a paper clip, click on that to open the 'Manage Attachments' window.

Hope this helps:)

Thanks, Jimbo - I took your advice, and - Success! My very average pics are now uploaded under "Recent Garden Action". I'm green with envy when I see the fantastic images other members display - I'm sure a combination of talent, patience & a decent camera with a lot more pixels than mine!

I tried to upload some pics y'day, & could only manage 3 out of the five, & that was 2 in one post, & one in another post. My efforts today to upload the last 2 have come to nothing, & I am certain this is due to their size. I would have thought they'd be no different in size to any of my pics, but these seem to vary from 360 KB to 876 KB (I can't think why), so presumably some won't fit. Is there any possible way to compress these down, does anybody know?

If you do want to start a completely new thread ever (for your photos or any other topic), Starlily, you need to click on the name of the forum (ie Members' Photos), and then click on New Thread at the bottom of the next page, and you can insert your own thread title.

Hi,
Other forums I use have the facility to show links to pictures directly from photobucket etc, negating the need to upload to each individual forum one uses.
The pictures then load into the message automatically.

You have a private messages part. How do get into that & is it only for viewing for that person ?
Sorry i think i have found it but can you send attachments ?

As with most forum sites you can send/receive private messages on the site with other members. I think attachaments are not allowed for security reasons, as you could get people sending viruses and all sorts.

The best bet is to send a private message to another member and give eachother your e-mail addresses so you can send attachments/photos in a conventional manner off the forum. It's always a good idea to warn people you are going to send them photos in an e-mail, as many people are very wary of unsolicited e-mails with attachments.

Shamal

So pleased a bee has chosen to use our new insect box. We don't really mind a few chewed leaves on our roses. No luck with the bumble bee box though - has anyone else had success with these? Where is the best place to site one?

All photo's will be different sizes, this is due to what is in the image, the light etc the more detailed the picture the more pixels it takes up, the same can be said for the size of pixel camera you have, Mine is a 12meg and what I do is reduce the size of the image and here is how to do it if you are running Microsoft windows.

Go to Microsoft free downloads and look for the image resizer and download it free, it automatically installs itself and that’s all you do.

Now pick any photo on your pc and highlight it with a left click of your mouse, after you highlight it then right click the photo a little pop up box will appear, scroll down until you see the text resize picture and a box will pop up with 4 different sizes small medium or large & mobile devices, there is a button for advanced were you can choose your own size if you wish but for forums such as this the top check box is ideal for all photo's.

Click your choice of size and then click OK, you will get a copy of your picture that will have extra text in brackets saying small....your original picture is left untouched.

This all sounds very long winded but it takes seconds to change the size of your pictures.

If anyone needs any extra help you can send me a private message or post on here and I'll be happy to help.

Do you know what type of bee it is?

I have a small nest under my shed and a different type of bee living in a hole in the wall

I only know it to be a leafcutter bee. I uploaded a photo - hope you could see it!

Yes I can see your photo but I don't know one bee to another lol.

We have 2 types of bees in our garden this year, one lot live under my workshop and the look like honey or bumble bee's, I don't know the difference and we have a group that live in a drainage hole in the wall.

Loved the photo Judy - I don't know much about bees either, apart from the obvious bumble variety !! I'm quite excited because my next door neighbours are waiting the imminent arrival of their bees - apparently around 20,000 of them so it should be very interesting. My father kept several hives when I was a small child (long, long time ago). :)

Gosh - 20,000! Mind you, I don't know how many a hive will hold. I'm wondering if I posted my picture etc. in the wrong section of this forum as I am very new to it. I was more concerned about getting the picture on. However, I would be interested to know if anyone has had any success with a bumble bee box. As you can see, my insect box has attracted the leafcutter bee, but I have never had a bumble bee nest in the other box and I am wondering if it is not sited correctly.

My very same neighbours whose bees are arriving tomorrow, also have a bumble bee nest in their stable under some piles of wood and straw. We have grown three different types of buddlei and have left an area of the lawn with lots of daisies, clover, dandelions, buttercups, etc., as well as a large ivy covered hedge and three large orange blossom bushes so hopefully they will all find enough to fill their tums and produce some good honey. Will take some photographs when they get settled in. :):)

p.s. Judy - yes, you may have been better to start a new thread on Members Photos entitled Bees, but we've all had a chat on here now !!!

Hi, Painted Lady - We have a slightly similar insect box, except ours is designed for ladybirds, and we hung it on the outside wall of our garden shed, about halfway up, sheltered by the overhanging roof.
