Thought I would share this photo of a coloured spider discovered in my garden a couple of weeks back. Not sure if it's yellow because of where it has chosen to live, or for some other reason.
Can anyone tell me what type of spider it is?

The first photo includes my friend's hand, to give you an idea of scale. The 2nd photo is a zoomed-in crop of the same photo.

Found the photos of the white spider, so added them too. Hope you like them :D

Looks like the spiders, specially the yellow one, have adopted clever disguises, so they can lurk amongst the petals and catch unwary insects!

Thanks Jandy. The photo of the white spider was taken a few years ago, and I was surprised it had chosen a pink sweet pea flower and not a white one to hide in. The photo was taken when it was getting quite dark, hence the bright flash on the flowers, but the very dark background.

I'm sure they are not an exotic species, and it makes a change from the usual spiders lurking all over my garden. Guess that's why the wrens visit so often :)

Mystery solved. Found a picture of a very similar spider in a book - apparently its a flower spider. Quite common in Europe (and other places) and can be yellow, white or green.

The white spider appears to have a translucent head and legs, wich suggest it could be a crab spider, but as these are inhabitants of SE Asia, and my spider was found in Hampshire, UK, I think it must also be a flower spider. :)
