Hiya Jeff good pictures, I'm fairly certain that's a slow worm, they have suffered quite badly over the years because of their resemblance to snakes, maybe someone else can confirm it.

Your spot on, It is a slow worm, (Just a lizard without legs) and in no way dangerous, I don't know what's happened in my garden this year, first of all plenty of sparrows here every day, 3 Slow worms and 2 bee's nests, one under my shed, I don't know if they are bumble bee's or honey bee’s and the other type are living in the drainage hole in a wall, So I assume mason bee's but I'm no expert.

The slow worms are very lucky I decided to turn a pile of dead brush I had ready to burn as I found them under there, so no bonfire until I know they are no longer there.

Hi Jeff. Great pictures. We get these in our garden as well - all different sizes. I found one by accident curled up under a saucer that I use as a water dish. I just picked it up and there it was. I quickly replaced the saucer as I didn't really want to disturb it, but when I checked the next day, it had gone. Our cat also likes catching them. Usually I am able to rescue them unharmed, but occasionally they are quite stressed and have jettisoned their tail sections to act as a decoy. It will grow back if they can escape the predator!

Thanks catscratch

I found one in our garden a few years back and never thought anything about it but this year with 3 here, we took a little more notice, they are actually living under a heap of garden rubbish that we wanted to burn, I always rake this sort of stuff before we burn it incase of any wild life living within it, Good Job really or those little fella's would have been toast by now, Looks like the rubbish will have to stay there and rot now or at least until they move on.
