Unfortunately where we live they shoot pleasants from around Oct-Dec. We try to encourage them to come into our garden to be safe. One summer one turned up and started to eat the bread that had fallen off our bird table. He then came back the next day, and again & again & again, until it was basically every day. He would take bread from our hands. We called him Phillip. He visited us all summer and even brought a female in a few times. It was very cute to watch him standing back while she ate the bread. We did still see him around in the lane in the autumn/winter months. But after a while he never came back.....we like to think he just wandered off somewhere. We hope he enjoyed those few months of sanctuary in our garden. Here's some photos of him...

They tend to shoot un-pleasants around here. Sorry Sparkles, couldn't resist :-)

Thank-goodness someone else names their birds.. I thought it was just us. We had a visit from a pheasant some months ago, but he moved to quickly for me to get a half-decent snap. Love the colours in his plumage..
