Was staying in the very west of Cornwall for a week during the Great Snow (very unusual to have it down there), and saw quite a few redwings both front and back of the house. Got quite a few photos, and these were the least rubbishy, though they don't match up in any way to the likes of Mike's and others.

Am off to Cornwall again tomorrow, this time for almost 3 weeks incommunicado (not having a laptop). Hopefully will see a good selection of birds. Funny how the weather starts to get wintrier at the same time as I set out! It was just the same on 6th Jan.

Hi Jandy

Just looked at your Redwing and noted your comments that they don't match up to ours. My feelings are at least you were able to get an image for record purposes, we don't always get the right results I know I've just posted a terrible one. Hope you are well ??

Best wishes

Thanks, Mike, I'm fine. Just got back from Cornwall on Weds this week, and now catching up with everything posted on the forum in the meantime, which will take a while! Unable to do much birdwatching down there, as caring for my poor old Mum (now aged 95!!), very frail and not well at all. However, spotted some oystercatchers and plenty of pied wagtails and jackdaws, and in the garden more chaffinches than we get here, plus tits, blackbirds, and collared doves, and of course the ever-present herring gulls. Sometimes heard a tawny owl at night, but never got to see it.
