Puffed up Robin

Our resident Robin sat in a bush in our garden trying to keep warm yesterday, just like a little puff ball. It was glorious sunshine with not a cloud in the sky but it was cold, not like today, grey, miserable and also cold. Not good for photos.

...he's been digging for something judging by the ice still on the end of his nose! Very nice shot.
I'm still trying to teach our new batch of Robins to use the Mealworm feeder but they don't seem to like the new green coloured one I got from CJ. Before, I had a opaque version of the same feeder and that meant that they could seen that there was something inside; this made them curious enough to look. Unfortunately, it seems, the green one (the only one available now) doesn't allow them to see that there's something inside and they don't look in. Don't know what I can do about this...:confused:

Hi, Mike - That is a terrific photo. I can almost feel the cold looking at it, and the robin's pose is spot on. The birds in general have been quite a bit tamer in this cold weather - I could go right up to the window without scaring them off the feeders, as in these conditions food is their most important and urgent need.
