This is not casting nasturums on CJ's or their suppliers, but please be careful if you are cleaning your seed or nijer seed containers in this freezing weather. We've had little snow but twelve days of freezing temperatures (only a couple of hours above 0C) and the cold is bringing its' toll - one bird bath and two seed feeders have just cracked. Just come in from dog walking - well, skating - including the dog and it's minus 10c out there and we're 500 yards from the sea, which is a bit ludicrous.
I'm putting out warmed stainless steel dog bowls with cold water when feeding birds and not using feeders - can't afford to lose anymore - and putting food out under vegetation where there's some protection - thankfully the local cats HATE this weather and are staying home. My friend in Perthshire has had it as low as - 19c - he's left his garage door wedged slightly ajar, covered the car with a tarp and fed the birds inside.
Take care of yourselves and our feathered friends.
