Hi Taleisin,
Your third photograph, on the blue feeder, is a female Chaffinch. I suspect the first two, on the roof of your bird table, is a Dunnock - used to be called a Hedge Sparrow.
That said I'm very weak on little brown birds - there are so many of them and even in our garden I can get confused between the Dunnocks and (say) a female House Sparrow. There are people on this board who will identify it precisely for you. It is a bit quiet on the board at the moment - the time of year I suppose.
Best wishes..

I agree with you 100% ... Dunnock (bird table roof) and female Chaffinch (bird feeder). Great photographs by the way and don't panic about not being able to identify each and every bird that you see - start with obvious species and each week set yourself a task to identify at least one additional species. Good luck.

I had to look twice at the dunnock the pose isn't one I normally see but agree with the identification.
The trick is just to keep looking and to pay attention to everything around you. Get a good field guide and don't be embarrassed to use it in public. Field markings you can memorise but the character of a bird is something that you learn by observation.

They are very good photos of a dunnock and chaffinch. I hope you can take some more like those (of other birds that come to your feeder).
I would love a decent camera with a large telephoto lens which I could use in order to get close ups of birds in the garden without disturbing them, but I cant afford the cost.
