Hi I just found this old photo from about 10 years ago, I was told at the time that it was albino pheasant? any ideas

Looks like it to me. More than likely it is raised for shoots. I have seem simular here in the westcountry. Some are even almost jet black. Would not say it was albino though.

Thanks I have never seen any other colour pheasant thought it was very strange

A very unusual sighting, Dove. Apart from the most usually seen Pheasant bred for shooting, there is another, more recently introduced one (my book tells me) the Silver Pheasant, which also has a red or pinkish face patch, where the male has a silver-grey back and tail and black underparts, and the female is greyish all over except on the head. As with other pheasants they would have escaped from collections.

Thanks for all the info Jandy, my neighbour who is into fowl mostly kept it for a few years until one day one of her other male birds killed it, it was a shame, she said it was a lovely bird to have around
