Hi :)
I've got the Rustic bird bath that I bought from CJ's, but it's gone rusty... Would anybody know how I could de-rust it and then prevent it from rusting again?

A mechanic friend of mine uses something called "armorphos acid". He paints it on rust with a paint brush, and the rust vanishes, and the metal goes black. I think the rust gets "unoxidised" or something. You could try wire wool to fetch it off, but that would be hard work. A wire brush might be better, but both of those might leave scarring.
Depending on what the bath is made out of, you could try a product like Hammerite (available from B&Q, or Wickes do a much cheaper stores own version). Paint it on, like normal paint, and it sets much stronger than normal paint.

Hi and thanks again
I think the bath is made from cast iron (I'll have to check). Re the hard work of wire wool or even a wire brush, I think I'll have to leave the job to someone stronger than me as I have MS and not much strength... or I'll try the acid, which sounds useful to know about anyway.
