Year before last, when I was still lucky enough to have baby starlings, (my starlings don't come anymore although I still see evening flocks gathering) I saw a parent stuffing a full dandelion flower down a baby's throat. Every time the baby spat it out back it went again for at least half a dozen times until at last parent gave up. Inexperienced mother, or what?
