I know I was a very good girl last year because Santa brought me a super 'camera nest box' that I'd been wanting for ages :) and now Santa's little helper is ready to install it for me, but.......
the bluetits are already popping in and out of the box we were going to replace, and yesterday one was remodelling the entrance hole.

The new box is much bigger and quite different in appearance from the old one (which was used last year). Would it be better to put the new one somewhere else, or can we swap it for the old one without putting our prospective tenants off?

I'd leave the old one where it is now interest is being shown and site your camera box elsewhere, good luck, they are great if they get occupied. If you get it sited soon you may get birds roosting in it over night another bonus :D:D

Thanks Gardbird. I'll make sure it gets moved to the top of hubby's 'Dear Do' list ;)

Last year we had another bluetit family in the end apartment of the sparrow terrace, plus wrens in the ivy and long-tailed tits in the berberis. Fingers crossed that someone will like the new box equally well!

In the meantime, do I need to put anything inside it to encourage roosting?
