hello all,
i have problems. yes its enjoyable seeing all the birds feeding, but... around my niger seed feeder i'm finding a mass of growing seedlings. now without 'weeding' every other day, anyone got advice on what i can do ? yes it does include a feeder tray. also, i have a similar problem around my birdtable. where the birds cause the various seeds to fall on the grown, i'm getting all sorts of growing plants... and the food that isn't growing i'm finding its developing into a mass of mouldy/smelly 'gunk'.

i've cut down on the amount of feed i leave on the table, yet the birds are still causing an amount to fall on the floor.

any productive advice would be most welcome.

It would be useful to see what others have to say. I have a similar problem including a 6 ft sunflower. All I can say is that the hemp seed doesn't seem to be growing yet :D

Oh sounds familiar, especially now we seem to have entered "monsoon season!!!!!" I just keep cleaning it all up and weeding out the shoots. My Dad is trying with one of the squirrel guards over the top of the feeder to see if it stops it getting so wet. But so far i don't think its been as effective as he'd like. Would be interested to see if anyone has any other idea's?

We had loads of unexpected flowers growing under the birdy table. Some were really pretty. There was a plant a bit like a foxglove only a really delicate pink.. never seen it before. And of course the standard sunflowers. My daughters were really p**d off  cos they entered a competition for the biggest/best sunflower, and theirs were all stunted and oribble. But the ones the birdies planted for us were stunners :p
