Does Ninger seed go bad? My finches don't seem to be eating it lately.

Hi, Gennoo. I haven't had any nyjer seed go bad on me. I keep my sacks in a large dustbin and last year stored it for six weeks and no feeding - no problems with seed. I've found that the finches tend to go away at this time of year - for about six to eight weeks. So now, as soon as they start to slacken off on the nyjer seed, I reduce the amounts I put out down gradually to nil and start building it up again in September - this does depend very much on the weather though and the other foods around. At the moment, none of the birds seem to be too interested in food (except the seagulls) but I've still a lot of birds around.
